The sun is setting earlier, we are starting to feel the cold, Autumn is in full swing but there is a positive side. The seasonal festive lights are coming up, creative hot chocolate recipes, and Christmas is the next fun holiday to look out for.

It’s time to continue to look on the bright side of Autumn and being to unwind. Here are suggestions in no particular order, to help you go with the flow and enjoy the colder months just as much as the warm ones.

  1. Take a minute to breathe and enjoy the little things. Use one of your Scentered Wellbeing Ritual Aromatherapy Balms to take a deep inhale and exhale and enjoy this moment.

  2. Introduce yourself to Aromatherapy.  All our blends have soothing effects from the first-grade essential oils mixed in them. They are perfect for stimulating receptors in the nose that can boost your mood at any given time this Autumn.

  3. Let go of tensions held in your body. We hold tension mainly in our shoulders and our jaw. This will give your body a quick refresh, and make sure it doesn't build-up to become a problem over time.

  4. If you take days off during the months leading to Christmas, make sure you give yourself time to recover before you jump back into work. Spending a whole day travelling back or catering for family coming over for a whole week can be more tiring than relaxing. So plan time to clear your head before jump back in rhythm.

  5. Time to pick your nutrition carefully. Festive food is some of the best food! But when you have the chance to try to eat healthy food as this will keep your energy up, and also help your mental health, which is imperative in the darker months of the year.

  6. Try not to over plan. There are thousands of fun things to do this season but overpacking your schedule can be exhausting, so instead of aiming for mulled wine every day at your favourite market stall, how about once a week…?

  7. Time for some mental TLC, - Meditation. Meditation has several benefits from de-stressing to promoting emotional health. It doesn’t need to take much of your time either. Find the right way to meditate for you and reap the benefits.

  8. Pick out a new favourite tea. This may not seem like the most exciting way to unwind, but hot water can calm the nervous system, keep you hydrated and improve circulation. So, with a touch of flavour, you’ll enjoy it all that bit more.

  9. Take a walk in between the autumn trees. Exercise is one of the best ways to de-stress, but these holiday seasons can be one of the busiest few months of the year. Taking a brisk walk and admiring the changing leaves could be a quick fix way to clear your mind and boost endorphins, especially when paired with our Wellbeing Aromatherapy Balms to help you relax all that bit more.

  10. Take a moment for some positive thinking. Time to give yourself some compliments and encouragement. You will be surprised how much daily positive thinking can impact your mood and attitude towards your days.

  11. Have a giggle. Make an effort to chat with friends, or book a comedy sketch, or even YouTube your favourite sketches. Laughing is one of the easiest ways to decrease stress hormones whilst also just having a great time.

  12. Indulge with some dark chocolate. Dark chocolate has some great health benefits including reducing stress and carrying a lot of nutrients. This makes it the perfect treat this Christmas.

  13. Get some sleep. Sleep is one of the most important things you can do for your body. Apply some SLEEP WELL Aromatherapy Balm or light your SLEEP WELL Candle an hour you plan to sleep before, and notice how much quicker you drift off as the days go by and you begin to develop a relationship and habit between the smell and the act of sleeping.

  14. Close your eyes. Sometimes it can all get a bit too much and if you’re trying to focus close your eyes for a minute and simply take a minute to think and quieten the mind.

  15. Try to wake up a little earlier. It’s known that those who wake up earlier have a more productive day. It also buys you more time, giving you more room to carry out all your daily tasks with less pressure of running out of time.

  16. Try acupuncture this Christmas. You don’t have to go out of your way to have an acupuncture session. Simply grab yourself a mat from our friends at Yogibare and enjoy the benefits of muscle relaxation and endorphins from the comfort of your own home.

  17. De-clutter time.  Our environment can sometimes project itself on to our mood. This means that if you have let your room or work desk get a bit messy this can make you feel a bit scattered mentally. Make time to re-vamp your environment to give yourself a fresh start.

  18. Time to get your favourite seasonal playlist up. Listening to music has relaxing effects, and we heard they double if you also have a bit of a dance at the same time.

  19. Pick up a book. Going out gets a little harder in the cold. Which makes this the perfect time to pick yourself a great novel to start on. Reading can stimulate the mind, and reduce stress by giving you time to yourself and clear the mind from worrying thoughts.

  20. Make time for friends and family.  Socialising can enhance your mental health, physical health and increase your sense of belonging. It can be easy to keep postponing a meet up so we are giving you direct orders to go out and enjoy yourself.
