New Year’s Eve is the perfect day to reflect on the year that has passed and to set goals for the incoming year. Our main advice when setting resolutions is to make them realistic and focused on increasing happiness above anything else. It is also important to not set a time limit on these goals. You should view each goal as a lifelong resolution rather than one that you have to achieve during and exclusively in 2018. We have put together our four resolutions for 2018 which you may find help to inspire yours…
To get increased sleep
Sleep, along with exercise and diet, are part of the three ‘pillars of health’. It is recommended that to be productive the following day and to function both mentally and physically, 8 or more hours sleep is necessary per night.
However, over 70% of the British public have admitted to having less than seven hours of sleep a night. Therefore, getting more sleep is something that many people want to achieve, however where do you start? Perhaps start by recording your current sleep patterns in a journal to see how close you are to achieving 8 or more hours of sleep per night. Then it is time to start planning out new ways that may help you unwind before bed, setting you up for a daily 8 hour sleep. Our secret recipe to a long, restful night’s sleep is our Sleep Well range. Apply our therapy balm to your pulse points before curling up, burn your sleep candle half an hour before bed whilst you read your book and use our luxury 100% silk eye mask to block out the disturbance of early morning light. They really do work miracles.
Make more time for yourself
Life is busy and fast paced, however this is what makes it so fulfilling and rewarding. This does mean that finding a moment to yourself is somewhat a challenge. One of our resolutions for this year is to make valuable time for yourself. Whether this is being more selective with social plans or amending your work hours so you start earlier in the morning leaving more time to spend relaxing in the evening. It is the smaller amendments to your lifestyle that will make a big difference in the long run. Our de-stress balms and candles are the perfect companion when enjoying some ‘me’ time, unwinding and releasing tensions from the day.
Increase exercise
It is the classic one… to exercise more. But our resolution is slightly different. We want to try new fitness methods. Perhaps you could step out of your comfort zone and sign up to that one class at the gym that has always intrigued you but you’ve never quit committed your pen to the sign-up sheet, or perhaps you could join a team sport such as a netball team. The potential is endless. Before starting your workout, apply our stimulating focus balm to your pulse points and allow those endorphins to be released!
Health, Health, Health
December is the month of indulging and we really hope you have made the most of it and stocked up on all your favourite festive foods. However, this does mean many people reach January craving some healthy alternatives to slim back down for the New Year. You do not need to make drastic changes to your diet but focusing on increasing your fruit and vegetable intake would be a great place to start. They taste great, are naturally low in calories, and are full of vitamins, minerals, folate, carotenoids, phytonutrients, antioxidants, fibre and water. Just what you need for a January health booster.
So we’ve shared our resolutions with you for 2018 but we’d love to hear about yours. Leave us a comment, drop us an email or DM us on Instagram. We can’t wait to hear about your progress!
