Winter Self Care Rituals To Adopt In 2023

Winter is a challenging time of year with the colder weather, dark mornings and lack of sunlight! Thus can play havoc on your mind, body and spirit as it isn't getting the nourishment it truly needs.

The colder temperatures are drying on your skin and lips, making them chapped and sore and the lack of Vitamin D can upset the balance in your body and mind and leave you feeling fatigued and low. That is why it is a good idea to focus on self care and your own wellness routine to help battle through the cold, dark months and feel revived and rebalanced regardless of what is outside your window.

At Scentered https://scentered.me/, we believe you should embrace the seasons and work your routine around them to get the best out of yourself. The weather and seasons can have a huge impact on your mood, hormones and sleep so now is a good time to throw out your old routine and embrace wellness to make you feel your best and be in harmony with your life.

What Is Self-Care?

Self-care means taking care of yourself so that you can be healthy, in mind, body as well as spirit. Taking care of yourself helps you whether that is at work, home, looking after others and it helps you to get through everyday putting your best step forward. Self-care rituals are a great way to restore and rebalance, especially when starting a new year.

Self-care is not just a hot bath (which is also a great practice) but it is so much more than that. It  includes everything that will help you to stay mentally and physically healthy. This ranges from hygiene, nutrition, mental health, mindfulness. It is everything that will help you to manage stressors in your life and to take care of your own well-being.

Sometimes all you need is an anchor like our LOVE aromatherapy products that helps you  to feel connected with others physically or emotionally or times when you need soothing self-care, it’s like a hug you give to yourself.

How To Practise Self-Care

Practising self-care could be lighting a candle and reading a book, or cleaning your house and getting into a clean bed, putting on a face mask, going for a walk or baking a cake. It is whatever helps you to unwind and reset. Winter selfcare is all about doing what reduces stress and brings relaxation into your life.

Here are some of our ideas for your morning and evening wellbeing routines:

Morning Wellbeing Routine

Start your day off by stretching your body, it sets a great intention for the day. Morning yoga helps to wake you up and gently warms your muscles up. Put our LOVE aromatherapy balm on your pulse, so as you flow through your practice you can inhale the soothing notes.

A great morning flow will also start to move blood around your body, warming you up and will make you more productive throughout the day. It also starts your day off in a mindful and peaceful way that will prepare you for the day.

Evening Wellbeing Routine

Take a hot bath, light a candle and  wash away the day. Nothing beats slipping into a warm bath right before bed and helping you to relax which in turn will help you to have a restorative nights sleep.

Taking the time out to have a bath is also a great way to have some ‘me time’ and relax without any interruptions. Use this precious time to inhale and exhale, releasing any stress.

After, slip into something comfy, like the robe from our Self-Care Recovery Set and get cosy for bed.
