For adults and children alike, Christmas can be one of the most exciting times of the year for many families. As the excitement starts to build on Christmas Eve, you may find that putting your children to bed becomes a little bit of a struggle. With so much to look forward to the next day, it can all become too much and some children may find it hard to fall asleep.
Whilst this is completely normal, nobody wants grumpy children on Christmas Day. So it’s important to try and get the kids down for a restful night’s sleep before the big event.
In this article, we have put together our top tips that come with using aromatherapy for sleep and how to successfully help your children to get a full eight hours on Christmas Eve.
Stick To The Routine
It can be difficult during the festive season to stick to any routines, let alone bedtime ones. When you have young children, Christmas can be one of the most exciting times of the year, so getting them to bed nice and early on Christmas Eve can seem like a distant dream.
Throughout the year, as parents, you may find yourself getting your children into a night time routine. Whether that’s making them bathe before bed, reading them a bedtime story or even just hanging out with the family before it lights out.
During December, it can seem like these rules all go out the window, but if you’re looking for a less stressful, fun-filled Christmas Day, ensuring your children get a full eight hours of shut eye, can be vital.
Even though it can seem impossible, try to stick to the usual bedtime routine, even on Christmas Eve. Trying adding in some festive spins like swapping out a normal bedtime tale for a Christmas themed one, and of course, leaving out cookies and milk for Santa Claus. But for the most part, sticking with the normal routine can help keep your children calm and allow them to drift off into a peaceful night’s sleep.

Bath Time Before Bed
Ensuring your children have a bath before bed can be a great way to get them to wind down before bedtime. With all the excitement of Christmas in the air, using aromatherapy for sleep could be a good option. Bath oil for kids is a great way to incorporate calming scents before you put them to bed and wait for Santa.
To use bath oil effectively, pour a small amount of oil into a warm bath and allow the essential oils to envelop you with this calming aromatherapy blend. Alternatively, you can also put oil in your children's palms before stepping into the bath, have them raise their hands to their noses and inhale deeply. Both methods have a calming effect, which should last until bedtime.
